Upon enrollment in a course at Metro Virtual Academy, students are assigned a certified and experienced teacher. Throughout the course, students are able to communicate with their teacher in a number of ways, including direct message, email, and scheduled audio/video conferencing. Teachers are available to answer questions, provide support and feedback, and grade assessments. They are the first point of contact for any questions or concerns that students may have.
MVA also has a certified Guidance Counsellor who can provide counselling and support to students and families regarding course selection, post-secondary options and career/life planning.
At MVA, we recognize the significant impact that mental health issues can have on our students and their families. We emphasize the importance of mental health so that students know they are not alone and need not suffer in silence. No academic issue is insurmountable. For more immediate support, students can reach out to Kids Help Phone who offer confidential and anonymous 24/7 professional counselling and mental health services to Canadian children and youth. Support is offered through text, phone, Facebook Messenger, and Live Chat, and their website www.kidshelpphone.ca also provides information about youth programs and other resources based on location.
