Students can attend Metro Virtual Academy from anywhere in the world! Our students can work from home, any time of the day or night, from any location. MVA grants Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credits which are recognized and accepted by universities and colleges across Canada and around the world. International students do not require a study permit to take online courses at MVA from locations outside of Canada.
If a student has never taken a high school credit course in Ontario, we will establish an Ontario Student Record (OSR), which is an official folder that contains all of the student’s school records. Every student registered at a school in Ontario must have an OSR. We charge an administrative fee of $100 to establish an OSR.
In order to establish an OSR, we require:
A copy of the student's government-issued identification.
This may include a birth certificate, passport, driver’s license, or another official photo ID. If issued in a language other than English or French, the ID must also be accompanied by a notarized English translation.
A copy of the student's official international transcript.
This is to verify that the student has taken the equivalent of any prerequisite courses required in order to register in MVA courses. Please request from your school that the transcript be issued in English--if this is not possible, an English translation will also be required. Please contact us if you need help finding a translation service.
International Student fees are calculated by adding $100 to the regular tuition fee--this slightly higher fee ensures that we are able to provide our highest standard of communication and support to all of our students.
If you have any questions about your status as an international student or the requirements to register, please do not hesitate to contact us! Our guidance team will be happy to support you at every step of the process.
